A partnership gone to waste

KYALAMI - The Greater Kyalami Conservancy and the Diepsloot Waste Buyback Centre are partnering to manage waste.

The partnership is part of the conservancy’s engagement with its neighbours. At a public information session held at the Beaulieu Pavillion, Bernard Mulauzi of the buyback centre explained that it was an initiative to urge the community to recycle its unwanted waste.

Mulauzi has a keen interest in protecting the environment and said the centre could receive up to 60 tons of waste per month from Diepsloot.

The centre has been running since last year and is not only aimed at helping the environment, but to create employment opportunities. Mulauzi said this was more of a reason for residents to take their waste to the centre.

“The centre employs 21 people and the more waste we process, the more people we can employ and the more waste is taken care of,” said Mulauzi.
