Douglasdale Business Forum to fight grime

DOUGLASDALE - Douglasdale resident Susan Mottram said she was in the process of establishing a Douglasdale Business Forum.

She said the forum’s vision would be to increase security and keep clean the two main roads in Douglasdale, Leslie Avenue West and Douglas Drive by petitioning the city council as a united front, and donating time and funds when possible. “With enough businesses on board, the Douglasdale Business Forum can become a powerful mouthpiece against grime and urban decay, crime and bylaw offences, which are threatening the values of society, our homes and businesses, and our very lives,” Mottram said.

Founding members of the new forum would include communication company Headline News, Hogshead Restaurant Douglas Village, Total Garage Douglasdale and Pharmasave Douglasdale.

“We will hold a meeting to brainstorm how we will proceed with this new concept at Hogshead Restaurant at 6pm on 3 September, and representatives from businesses (big or small) in the area who are willing to work towards building a cleaner, safer and better governed Douglasdale are welcome to join us and put forward their suggestions.

“We need people of action to make this work. We will likely meet monthly to begin with, but once the forum is established and effective, we will look at meeting bi-monthly,” Mottram said.
