Public speaking at its best

LONEHILL - After gruelling knock-out rounds in the Grade 7 public speaking arena, Jordan Dowds and Mikhail Mohamed were selected to represent Crawford Preparatory Lonehill at the Crawford schools' national public speaking contest.

Their topics were the well-known song titles, My heart will go on and Disasterology. “They travelled to Durban and enjoyed two days hosted by the staff and students of the beautiful Crawford North Coast campus, situated close to the new UShaka airport,” said Debbie Fanti of the school.

“As a treat the two pupils attended a workshop with the doyenne of public speaking and accomplished adjudicator, Marcelle Pincus. They also enjoyed visits to the beach and Shaka Marine World aquarium, together with the scary water rides they will fondly remember.”

At the competition, where speeches were of an extremely high standard, Dowds won a gold medal and a trophy while Mohamed was awarded a silver medal. “Crawford Preparatory Lonehill is proud of these two accomplished pupils who are learning such important life skills,” Fanti said.
