A plea to help walker

Van Buuren, who was awarded with national colours for her outstanding achievements, has been invited to represent the country in the World Masters Athletics Championship in Brazil.

The Run Walk for life club in Fourways took the initiative to raise funds for Van Buuren and managed to raise R10 000. She has not managed to secure sponsorship from the South African athletics association. The amount raised is not enough to cover all her costs. Club member, Wendy Graham is requesting the community to assist in anyway they can so Van Buuren can take part in the championship from 16 to 27 of October.
