E-trolley handover for school

The pupils of Kwena Molapo Secondary School received a much-needed gift from the Britehouse Group in the form of four e-trolleys for their e-learning programme.

Kwena Molapo Secondary School is situated on the outskirts of Diepsloot, near Lanseria airport.

Themba Zikalala of Dimension Data, Britehouse’s parent company, explained that the e-trolleys are mobile units with a monitor, mouse, keyboard, projector and amplified speaker with pre-loaded lessons in all core subjects. The subjects covered include English, mathematics and physical science. Zikalala demonstrated that a teacher would be able to call up different videos that relate to each lesson and can also print workbooks for pupils.

Scott Gibson, Britehouse’s CEO, said that the group had been involved with Kwena Molape for the past two years instituting leadership programmes that dealt with the cultural divide in the school. The e-trolleys are the next phase of Britehouse’s sustainable educational support for Kwena Molapo.

Emmeline Bester, corporate social investment manager for Britehouse explained, “The e-trolleys allow teachers to communicate with students that may come from very different language backgrounds. The trolleys will also allow a teacher to give a pupil individual attention even in a class of over 40 pupils.”

Headmaster of Kwena Molapo, Thambatshira Michael Maligana, said that he was very excited about the e-trolleys. He said, “As a secondary school our aim is to prepare pupils for tertiary learning and for the working world. With that in mind we want every pupil from Kwena Molapo to be computer literate by the time they leave school.”
