Burning rubber on the track

Speed fanatics, car enthusiasts and celebrities all headed to the 5th Annual LiveOutLoud Supercar Day held at the Kyalami Race Track.

This year’s event was held in celebration of Aston Martin’s centenary as well as Porsche and Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary.

CEO of LiveOutLoud, Mike Ellersen, said the event was created around an experience, rather than a car, brand or niche group of society. LiveOutLoud broke the African record of 50 Aston Martin’s on a track at one time when organisers managed to get 62 of the cars on display.

World renowned front man of the band Jamiroquai, Jay Kay made a surprise visit arriving in a chopper and getting straight into one of the supercars for a lap of pure adrenalin around the track. Kay spent the day greeting fans and sharing his love of supercars.

The celebrity challenge saw Chianosky, Gugu Zulu, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, Tukwini Mandela and Mike Eilertsen take each other on to determine which car would race against the Eurocopter in the ultimate challenge.

“The helicopter pilot showed some true skill and won the challenge by three metres taking the title of Ultimate Machine,” said Michelle Reitz of Luxury Brands, who handles LiveOutLoud’s public relations.
