Linda Gildenhuys of the security branch of Sunninghill Community ratepayers association said the victims were new residents.
Captain Kym Cloete, Sandton police spokesperson said the wife arrived home from the shops at about 3:30pm on 6 October and while unloading the vehicle she was approached by two men who pointed a firearm at her.
Cloete said, “The victim was tied up with her husband and the suspects took cellphones and cash as well as two vehicles belonging to her husband and her.”
She added, “We are not sure at this time whether the victim’s husband arrived home with her or whether he was inside the house already, but both vehicles were parked at the house.”
According to Gildenhuys, the security company which patrols Sunninghill was able to pick up details of the suspects’ vehicles on their security cameras.
They have since handed over this information to the Sandton police.
Gildenhuys urged residents of Sunninghill to be careful that they were not being followed when entering their residences.
She said, “If you are suspicious that someone is following you, please call the security company so that they can escort you home.”
Cloete said the investigation was ongoing and urged anyone with information to call or SMS the Sandton police.
