All Gold makes a super sausage world record
BEVERLEY - Good food, good music and good vibes were the order of the day at All Gold's record breaking boerewors event at Fourways Crossing.
All Gold succeeded in creating and braaing a one kilometre-long boerewors, as well as getting the most people to sauce it in just one minute.
The monster boerewors was braaied on a custom-made braai which ensured that the boerewors would not break.
Braai master-in-chief Simon Gibson explained that the biggest challenge was actually packing the boerewors onto the truck to transport it to Fourways Crossing. It was also incredibly difficult to turn the boerewors while braaing it. “If the boerewors had broken at any point it meant we wouldn’t have made the world record,” explained Gibson.
Expert braai masters trained for a week before the event. Braai master Benni Chinda commented, “It’s unbelievable that we actually managed to do it! When I was training I never thought we’d actually manage to break the record.”
All Gold’s marketing manager Edna Maphita said, “All Gold is an iconic South African brand and we wanted to do something that was uniquely South African, while also turning the event into a family day where people could just come out and have fun.”
Apart from the hoards of families, friends and Fourways residents that turned up for the event, it was also attended by a host of South African celebrities, including Cosmopolitan Magazine’s sexiest man of 2013, Maps Maponyane, 5FM DJ Gareth Cliff, hip-hop star HHP, Miss South Africa 2005 Thuli Sithole and gospel legend Sizwe Zako.
