Mothertouch hosts workshop for parents

DIEPSLOOT- Mothertouch Academy and Diepsloot Pre-Primary School joined The Foundation of School Leadership and Management to host a parent involvement workshop.

The workshop took place at Mothertouch Academy, on William Nicol Drive just outside Diepsloot. There were 60 parents in attendance who were encouraged, informed and enlightened during the workshop.

Director of The Foundation of School Leadership and Management, Desmond Zeelie, was the programme director while presenters Grace Mwase of Brain Boosters; Baswabile Matjile, a motivational speaker; and Selinah Tshikalaha, an involved parent at Mothertouch Academy, gave informative and inspirational speeches.

Zeelie explained that the emphasis was on the role of the parent, the importance of parental involvement, understanding child development, identifying talent in children and laying the foundation for success in children.

“The key to any child’s success is the degree and quality of parental involvement,” Zeelie said.

The workshop had such a great impact on the gathered parents that they requested that it become a quarterly event.
