Three wins for 7de Laan at awards

FOURWAYS - The 7de Laan team is celebrating after three of their actors walked away as winners at the first Royal Soapie Awards in Durban this past weekend.

Annelize van der Ryst-Hattingh and Hennie Jacobs scooped Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor for their roles as Matrone and Diederik respectively, while Simoné Nortmann won Outstanding Newcomer.

Nortmann couldn’t believe she won an award during her first year in front of television cameras.

“I still have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming,” she admitted.

The actors, producers and crew all agree that the Royal Soapie Awards is a welcome addition to the industry.

“It provides the opportunity for soap casts and crews to have their performance measured against the requirements of a very specific genre and to receive the recognition they deserve,” said Colin Howard, 7de Laan’s line producer.

“We would also like to congratulate the organisers for their excellent arrangements that resulted in an unforgettable evening. We

look forward to many more such events in future,” he added.
