Forum informs domestic workers

CHARTWELL – With an increasing level of crime in the Chartwell area, The Chartwell Country Estates Association hosted a Domestic Worker’s Forum.

According to committee member Heinrich Degener, the forum was designed to educate domestic workers and gardeners on the numerous methods of handling emergency situations.

Speakers from Douglasdale Police Station, Savika Armed Response and the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services gave in-depth information on the dangers faced in Chartwell.

Daniel Mahlangu, a representative of Savika Armed response, said that it was important for domestic workers to know their surroundings, neighbours and police, and to constantly communicate with their employer.

With extended presentations discussing an array of issues such as fire management, security risks and domestic abuse, as well as a question and answer session, domestic workers have been sufficiently warned and informed about the many safety issues in the Chartwell community.
