Montecasino has a winner
GOLD REEF CITY - Lenasia resident, Neil Singh put it all on the line and walked away with R 1.9 million in Tsogo Sun's Roulette Masters final which was held at Gold Reef City Casino.
On 13 January Tsogo Sun Casinos nationwide embarked on the Roulette Masters competition.
Every weekend for nine weeks roulette heats were held at 13 Tsogo Sun casinos including Montecasino. Patrons of the casinos entered the competition with a R100 buy-in. “With a guaranteed R1 million first prize, a R100 entry could give a return of 10 000 to one,” Steve Hight, director of gaming for Tsogo Sun said.
Qualifying rounds in the Roulette Masters were played at each casino with between one to five players constituting a heat. After buying-in, each player received chips and was required to play every spin. At the end of the nine-week qualifying period the player with the highest chip winnings from a single buy-in automatically qualified for a seat in the finals.
Singh set a record by qualifying at two casinos, Gold Reef City and Montecasino and therefore secured two places in the final. While Singh chose a proxy to represent his entry at Gold Reef City it was his entry at Montecasino that took him all the way to the top. Singh said that he played at Montecasino every time he went to visit his daughter, son-in-law and grandson in Randburg.
At the Roulette Masters final Singh placed both last and first. Singh’s entire family was there to cheer him on and were overjoyed when he won.
