Residents take back their street

PAULSHOF - After many years of poor treatment, Holkham Road residents had the pleasure of seeing their road cleared.

Residents were pleasantly surprised by a beautifully clean road last week, after members and workers from Sandton Village Estate and Army Ants Garden Service took the initiative to clean it up.

Holkham Road has struggled with poor treatment from individuals in the community dumping garbage, baby nappies, food, bottles and cans in the area. And residents have stated that City Parks has not cleaned the road or cut the grass on the sidewalk for many months.

Margo Bandsa from Friends of Rietfontein, an organisation focused on protecting the Rietfontein Nature Reserve on Holkham Road said, “The residents of Holkam Road are proud of their complex and where they live, but vagrants and [some] residents tend not to respect our street and many of us catch them either dumping or throwing things out of their cars. A plea for them to be proud and keep their street clean [goes out].”
