Fast food, faster delivery man
FOURWAYS - Debonairs delivery man Georges Embana became the hero of Pineslopes shopping centre after chasing down a thief.
It was an eventful Freedom Day at the centre after a man snatched a woman’s handbag off a table at Steers on 28 April.
The thief ran up Witkoppen Road, but was apprehended by Embana.
Embana said, “I was getting ready to make a delivery when I heard a woman scream in front of Steers. A man dressed very nicely stole her handbag and ran off.”
But the culprit didn’t get far when Embana climbed on his motorbike in hot pursuit.
“I got on my bike and chased him up the road. Once I got close enough I got off my bike and grabbed him before he could get away,” said Embana.
The robber was taken away by Pineslopes security guards.
“When I got back everyone congratulated me and one customer who was extremely grateful bought me a pizza to thank me,” said Embana.
“Robbing others isn’t right. We all have a right to be safe near our homes and its up to us to help others when they in need.”
