Laughing yoga at Rietfontein

PAULSHOF - The Friends of Rietfontein will be hosting an open air laughter yoga class to improve physical and mental well-being.

The event will be held on 17 May at the Rietfontein nature reserve.

It is part of their involvement with City of Johannesburg and Mayor Parks Tau’s Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, a 2040 strategy to promote healthy eating, education and active living in Johannesburg.

Friends of Rietfontein nature reserve representative, Margo Bandsa said the event was part of the organisation’s attempt to promote the community’s involvement in the nature reserve.

The class will be led by certified laughter yoga coach, Ajit Bhagattjee who said, “Laughter yoga is the combination of forced laughing and the deep breathing as practised in pranyana yoga. This results in a variety of the endorphin hormone being released. It has been discovered that these hormones have a host of benefits to your well-being.”
