Layla’s dance with destiny

FOURWAYS - Lonehill cancer sufferer Layla O'Neill received a wonderful fifth birthday surprise in the form of a flashmob at Fourways Mall.

Layla entered Fourways Mall to find her friends, family and supporters holding candles, while singer Graeme Watkins provided beautiful live music.

Dance studio, Pulzation Dance choreographed an incredible, uplifting tribute to Layla which brought a smile to her face despite the discomfort her illness is currently causing her. Before Layla was diagnosed with ependymoma, which is a form of childhood cancer, she was a pupil at the dance studio, therefore the tribute was a fitting one.

Visitors to the mall, waiters and shop staff dropped what they were doing to watch the flashmob or joined in by holding a candle or clapping their hands. The surprise flashmob was both entertaining and touching. In the end there was not a dry eye in Fourways Mall.
