Jub Jub in the lions den

LEEUWKOP - Hip-hop recording artist Jub Jub was moved from Johannesburg Prison to Leeuwkop Prison on 3 May.

Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, was convicted of murder in 2012 after killing four children and injuring two others during a drag racing incident in Soweto in March 2010.

According to the Daily Sun, the singer was moved from Johannesburg Prison, which is known as ‘Sun City’ due to their alleged lax security, after he was caught having sexual intercourse with a female visitor in the prison. This comes after numerous media reports that he was being given preferential treatment.

However the Daily Sun also reported that Zodwa Mtsweni of the Department of Correctional Services said the transfer of Jub Jub from Johannesburg Prison to the maximum security section of Leeuwkop Prison was part of an overcrowding management process.
