Jub Jub fight to be with his family

JOBURG- One of Leeuwkop Correctional Facility's newest inmates, Molemo Maarohanye, better known as Jub Jub wants out of prison.

The convict asked the South Gauteng High Court to set aside his conviction and sentence, so he can be free this coming Christmas.

Jub Jub, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison on a murder charge, told the court he was under the influence of drugs in 2012 when his car slammed into four school pupils in Soweto.

According to Daily Sun his lawyer, Willie Vermeulen said the drugs affected Jub Jub’s ability to “foresee the consequences of his actions”. The lawyer said the State failed to prove intent and, therefore, Jub Jub should have been found guilty of negligence, the Daily Sun said.

A more reasonable sentence for Jub Jub would be eight years in jail with three years suspended on charges of negligence, his lawyer said.
