Kayleigh has star quality

BEAULIEU - Beaulieu's Kayleigh Gilbert is a movie star in the making.

The 21-year-old had humble beginnings in Ermelo, Mpumalanga but is a firm believer in the saying ‘If you dream it, you can achieve it’.

Gilbert has just graduated from a two year programme at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and has now made a name for herself in Hollywood. “I moved to America because I knew that if I really want to make it big, Hollywood was the best place to pursue my career,” Gilbert said. She was cast as the lead in a film entitled Escaping the Holocaust where she portrayed a woman named Rena.

The film is a documentary cum narrative feature based on the true story of a man named Max, who spent almost a year digging a secret underground tunnel to escape from a prison camp in Warsaw during the Holocaust. He managed to save 15 other prisoners and left behind the love of his life, Rena only to find and marry her 30 years later. This riveting and touching film will be shown at major film festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, Toronto and Tribeca giving Gilbert exposure on an international level.

She has also just begun her role in The African President, a promising comedic pilot and has been cast in a starring role in the film Honeybee which will commence filming soon. From a small town in South Africa to the screens of festivals around the globe, Gilbert is just getting started.
