60 arrested at Clay Oven

LONEHILL- Douglasdale police conducted an operation in Clay Oven informal settlement at 3am on 9 August.

According to Warrant officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station,  the operation was a follow-up to the urgent security meeting which was held on 7 August between the community of Lonehill and the police. At the meeting many residents expressed concern that there were illegal immigrants living in the Clay Oven settlement.

The operation was a joint endeavor between local security companies and Douglasdale police.

Warrant officer Muthan said that RSS Security’s new heat-seeking drone was instrumental in the capture of the individuals at Clay Oven who were suspected of being illegal.

The individuals who were arrested during the operation are now in the holding cells at Douglasdale Police Station. Warrant officer Muthan said that Home Affairs would be called in to verify whether they are legal or not.
