Pupils wash cars to raise money for hockey tour
FOURWAYS- THE hockey touring squad of Fourways High School co-worked with the staff of Car Spa in Fourways on 13 September.
The pupils washed, polished and vacuumed customers’ cars, and sold bacon and egg rolls, boerewors rolls and cold rinks to raise money for their hockey fund.
The school has selected a girls and boys hockey squad of 40 to tour the Netherlands and Germany in March next year.
“We are a government school and therefore fundraising is essential for this tour to happen,” said Jodi Kavanagh, chairperson of the school’s hockey committee.
“We have a dedicated page on our school website promoting this tour and advertising our next fundraising events.We greatly appreciate support from the public and community in this regard.”
Mark White Nissan have also come on board and made a donation towards the tour fund.
The car wash was one of the many projects the school had organised to raise funds. A junk auction, hockey-a-thon and a quiz night have all been planned for the near future.
