When Hadebe was arrested last year, he confessed to killing the toddlers but rescinded his confession in court and chose to plead not guilty at the start of his trial on 22 October.
At the conclusion of his trial on 28 October at the High Court in Pretoria, Judge Nico Coetzee said Hadebe claimed he was beaten by police to elicit a confession.
Coetzee said it was found that Hadebe had no visible injuries and police testified that he wasn’t assaulted. Hadebe has been convicted of 12 charges in total, three of murder, three of kidnapping and six of rape.
Hadebe’s conviction comes with life imprisonment unless there are mitigating circumstances.
It was reported that Hadebe is still claiming insanity and claimed that he could not remember committing the rapes and murders.
