CONFIRMED: Man killed himself outside Olivedale Clinic
OLIVEDALE - Netcare Olivedale Hospital confirmed that a man died after shooting himself in a private vehicle in the hospital's parking lot.
Netcare Olivedale Hospital spokesperson Martina Nicholson said the man died from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound”.
She said counselling services would be offered to any individuals who witnessed the incident.
Newly elected committee member of Douglasdale Community Policing Forum Danielle Dooley said that Douglasdale police were on the scene of the incident and that a trauma councillor was helping the staff that were affected by the incident.
Dooley said the man shot himself in the car.
@SAR_K9_Unit tweeted that Douglasdale police was on the scene and @PigSpotter also warned motorists to avoid the area.
Netcare would not comment until a full statement was issued.
