VIDEO: A happy reunion between man and dog
JUKSKEI PARK - A video of a security guard being reunited with his beloved dog has captivated the hearts of people in Joburg North.
Magic Beings Nursery School, Creche and Swimming School in Jukskei Park posted a video on their Facebook page of their gate guard, Sipho Ndebele being reunited with his dog and best friend, Master.
Master is a fixture at the school and goes everywhere Ndebele goes. Ndebele owns two other dogs and trained Master and his other dogs all by himself to be very well-behaved and helpful. Master is now seven years old but Ndebele has had him since he was a puppy.
According to Genevieve van der Vyver of Magic Beings, on 6 December Ndebele was called away from his home very early in the morning. Master missed him so much that he decided to go looking for him. Master must have thought that Ndebele had gone to work because he walked all the way to the school. The school was closed for the weekend so Master lay down in the parking lot to wait for Ndebele.
A good samaritan saw Master and assumed he was a stray so she took him to the Fourways Vet, who then transferred him to a surrogate in the West Rand. At this point Master was very scared and stressed so he jumped over the wall of the surrogate’s home and started to make his way back to Jukskei Park. He was even spotted in Zandspruit informal settlement. In the meantime, Ndebele was distraught, so the school posted ‘missing’ posters on social media and in the area.
A woman by the name of Wendy McWilliams, who was a previous employer of Ndebele saw the posts on social media and drove around tirelessly looking for Master. At that point Master had been missing for four days. McWilliams spotted Master wandering around Northgate and eventually managed to coax him into her car by continually calling his name. McWilliams brought Master straight to the school and what ensued was a happy but teary reunion between Ndebele and Master.
