Bringing smiles to children

FOURWAYS - Pastor Wade Daniel and his wife, Chevy, from the Christian Family Church International in Fourways has been giving back to the community for many years.

Last year, the couple visited Acres of Love Children’s Home to bring much joy and happiness over the festive season.

Daniel, an esteemed singer and musician, believes it is his duty to give back to the community. The day was sponsored by the church, McCarthy Nissan, Renault and the Datsun dealership in Woodmead.

Pastor Wade and Chevy, and their congregation, collected and donated boxes full of goodies for the home.

McCarthy staff, customers and friends gathered gifts and goodies worth thousands of rands for the children in the care of homes around the country.

From clothing, boxes full of stationery, disposable nappies, toiletries, new toys, cash contributions, five car loads of goodies were handed over to the home.

David Potter, the operations director of the home, and 20 children from the different homes interacted with Daniel and his wife on the handover day. They held a little party for them, they made individual Christmas stockings filled with goodies for each child and gave them hot dogs, cold drinks and sweets.

Potter thanked everyone involved in the project and was delighted by the smiles on the children’s faces on Christmas day.
