New taxi rank delay frustrates
SUNNINGHILL - Frustration is mounting as progress on the Sunninghill Taxi Rank holding area has come to a halt.
This according to Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe.
It was reported previously that the rank, set to carry hundreds of taxis, was due for completion on 15 February this year.
Deppe said her frustration stemmed from the lack of communication between contractors and City officials.
“I am very disappointed that the taxis have not been able to move into the holding area yet, it seems that deadlines mean nothing to contractors that get tenders from the City of Joburg,” she said.
Deppe said the City’s new deadline for the taxi rank is 10 April this year.
