Partnership for a greener youth

FOURWAYS - WITH the spotlight on the youth and the environment in June, Tsogo Sun and Generation Earth announced a new environmental partnership at Montecasino.

Generation Earth is a green networking platform which is focused and orchestrated by the youth with the aim to nurture green thinking in the next generation. The hotel group and Generation Earth have partnered in a concerted effort to uplift young individuals who study science and express a keen interest in the environment.

Candy Tothill, Tsogo Sun’s group internal communications and special projects manager, emphasised the importance of people’s behavioural changes when it came to climate change.

“If you go into our rooms, you will notice a water conservation notice asking guests not to waste water,” she said.

“The aim is to bring about a sense of responsibility.”

Tothill emphasised the role of the youth in bringing about these behavioural changes, and explained that this was a central consideration in Tsogo Sun’s relationship with Generation Earth.

The hotel group will provide the venue for Generation Earth’s summit in October, which forms a stepping stone to the UN Convention on Climate Change’s 21st session in Paris in November.

“We partner with organisations that extend our reach and our ability to make a difference to food security and the environment in general,” concluded Tothill.
