Young super chef is a cooking star
FOURWAYS - A pupil from St Peter's Girls School took the cake in the second leg of the Hirsch and Defy Junior Super Chef competition held at Hirsch Fourways.
Emily Guimareans (10) cooked up a storm to win a hamper from Defy and now goes on to compete in the regional finals to be held on 11 July at the same venue.
The young chef went head-to-head with nine other contestants, bringing out her skills using mystery ingredients.
Judges of the competition included Robbie Coetzee, rugby player for Emirates Lions, and Dyllan Millar, the ‘Pink Chef’ who owns a local catering business.
Coetzee said he always strives to get involved in the community and supports local community initiatives like the Junior Super Chef Competition. He said that it was a pleasure to be part of such an amazing event for kids. Guimareans’ family said they were very proud of their girl’s achievements. “This competition definitely boosted Emily’s confidence,” they said.
