Actress claims Metro police officer assaulted her for speaking English
KYALAMI - A South African TV actress claims that a female Metro police officer assaulted her in Kyalami on the evening of 3 August.
According to IOL News, Lele Ledwaba, who currently has a role on the TV-soapie Rhythm City was pulled over by Metro police for yielding instead of coming to a standstill at a stop sign.
Ledwaba denies she broke the law.
She said the female metro police officer who stopped her immediately recognised her.
Ledwaba told IOL News that the officer checked her license disk and asked for her license.

Ledwaba said the officer insisted that the driver’s license wasn’t hers as it had different initials on it. However Ledwaba explained that she has other names which she doesn’t use.
Ledwaba said she asked the officer to give her a ticket and said she would contest it later, as was convinced she was not in the wrong.
Ledwaba said that when the officer heard this she became angry and started to shout.
Ledwaba also said the officer was not wearing a name tag.
The officer allegedly told Ledwaba “Just because you are a celebrity, you think you know everything and you even think you know JMPD rules.”
Ledwaba said the officer twisted her right arm.
She started to take photos of the officer but the officer allegedly grabbed her phone and forced Ledwaba to delete them.
Ledwaba also claimed that every time she spoke in English the officer became more and more angry.
Metro Police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed to IOL News that Ledwaba had lodged a complaint and said an internal investigation was underway.
