EduCate is a government matric maths and science campaign which uses SterKinekor cinemas nationally as ‘educational theatres of learning’.
Martin Sweet of Primestars Marketing, which facilitates the theatres of learning, said it was important to develop an educational plan for disadvantaged pupils across South Africa. He added that edutainment (education through entertainment) was the best possible way for pupils to learn.
“Barak Obama’s famous quote: ‘no child left behind’, we from Primestars say, ‘every child included’ with regards to this programme,” Sweet said.
The launch started with a warm welcome from emcee of the day, eduCate ambassador, Farah Fortune who introduced the launch’s agenda and the guest speakers for the day.
Speakers shared the same common message and goal, which was the importance of education to those underprivileged in the country, and the right for all pupils to receive equal education, no matter what their backgrounds were.
EduCate ambassadors, DJ Sbu, Jimmy Nevis, Farah Fortune and Boity Thulo were also present at the launch.
