Join River Rehab and help save environment
FOURWAYS - There will be tree planting along the Klein Jukskei Spruit and everyone's invited.
River Rehab, is an ongoing community project established by the non-governmental organisation, Green Beings, and promotes rehabilitating and using natural areas and parks adjoining rivers.
The organisation, in collaboration with many stakeholders and local businesses, has already removed many alien invasive trees and tonnes of rubbish from the area during the course of the year. The River Rehab project positively transforms the Spruit’s waterways and has seen an increase in the area’s biodiversity.
The tree planting initiative will focus on planting more indigenous trees in areas where alien vegetation has already been cleared. Indigenous trees combat soil erosion, attract local biodiversity and stabilise the riverbanks.
This year, local businesses and residents have again united in a shared vision with Green Beings to expand the positive impact on the area, and volunteers and businesses are invited to take part in transforming the Klein Jukskei Spruit on 24 October.
