Armed robbers storm watch store in Fourways

FOURWAYS - A Fourways store which specialises in selling watches was targeted by three armed robbers early on the morning of 23 January.

According to Community Policing Forum chairperson, Jean Berdou, the proprietor of the store opened the shop in the morning and locked the door behind her. She was immediately called back to the door by a person claiming to be a customer, who insisted that she help him with a watch he had bought from the store.

On opening the door, the man pointed a gun at the proprietor and two other suspects entered the shop.

The suspects moved the staff who were in the store to the back room and proceeded to steal a number of watches.

A staff member raised the alarm after she realised that the suspects had fled the scene. The suspects reportedly left the scene in a white Jaguar.

The amount of watches and their respective values are not yet known.

Spokesperson for Douglasdale Police, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan confirmed that they are investigated the case.
