13 injured after taxi driver falls asleep at the wheel

FOURWAYS - Thirteen people were injured this morning after the taxi that they were travelling in rear-ended a car on the N1 North before William Nicol Drive.

Thirteen people were injured this morning after the taxi that they were travelling in rear-ended a car on the N1 North before William Nicol Drive, in Fourways – north of Johannesburg.

At about 730am multiple EMER-G-MED response vehicles as well as ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

The passengers of the taxi alleged that the driver fell asleep, failing to see that the traffic in front of him had come to a stand-still.

Fortunately the 13 passengers sustained only minor injuries. They were assessed on-scene before being transported to various nearby facilities for further medical treatment. JMPD were present on-scene to investigate accordingly.
