Acting head of Visible Policing in Diepsloot, Captain Maropeng Teffo, led a Know Your Neighbour Campaign near Malatji Village in Lanseria on 7 May.
Teffo was accompanied by Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela, sector managers, members of the local Community Policing Forum and community patrollers.
Mavimbela said the police led the teams into Malatji Village and encouraged residents to watch out for each other and to prevent crime. “In parts of the neighbourhood, some of the residents were led to meet their own neighbours who… did not even know each other,” said Mavimbela.
The campaign was well received by about 3 000 residents.
