Dainfern resident reaches out to make a difference in Africa

DAINFERN – Getting to know Mrs Africa Continent finalist, Charmaine Ellis

Dainfern resident, Charmaine Ellis has been selected as one of 40 finalists for the Mrs Africa Continent pageant.

Ellis, who prides herself on being actively involved in many charity organisations for a number of years, said she was beyond excited and hoped to use the Mrs Africa pageant as a platform to increase awareness, involvement and sponsors on a larger scale for her charities.

The beauty has been actively involved with Ark Animal Centre, which is her main charity, and has been responsible for organising an annual golf day for Ark for a number of years.

Ellis also supports Dignity Dreams, a non-profit organisation that distributes washable feminine sanitary wear to underprivileged girls and women in all participating Mrs Africa countries. She added that she was also involved in the Nzuri Project which assists in treating women who suffer from endemic goitre and fistula conditions in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The pageant opened its entries early February this year and has had a huge response from married women across the African continent. The participating countries in this year’s pageant include Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Kenya, Swaziland, Mauritius and South Africa.

South Africa will be the host to this year’s Mrs Africa Continent 2016 Grand Finale in November.

Finalists will have the opportunity to compete for one of five Mrs Africa Continent 2016 International titles, and as part of their prize package, they will be flown to international destinations to represent the African continent.
