Sit-down with Montecasino’s general manager

MAGALIESSIG – The general manager of Montecasino, Glenn Joseph, recently went to Abu Dhabi. Read about what he had to say about his experience.

Fourways Review recently had a sit-down with the general manager of Montecasino, Glenn Joseph, as he discussed his recent all-expenses-paid trip to Abu Dhabi.

“The trip to Abu Dhabi was amazing as I was able to fulfil and tick off one of the few things I have on my bucket list. The most important of them all was my desire to experience test driving a Formula 1 car at the renowned Ferrari World,” Joseph said.

He explained that he started ticking off his bucket list in 2007 as he is well travelled and has been around the world a few times. “The only continent I haven’t been to is South America which is also on the bucket list,” he remarked.

“Most probably I will do the Brazilian Grand Prix at some point.”

The adrenaline-driven general manager added that he flew an aeroplane for his 40th which was courtesy of his wife who got him a voucher.

“I was able to fly an aeroplane from Grand Central to Hartebeespoort Dam and back. The only thing the pilot did was take me in the air and once we were off the ground I was able to do everything else.”

Joseph added that with all the thrilling experiences he has had, one of the major ones to date was being able to jump into a Formula 1 car and test driving on a Formula 1 track which he believed was not an everyday experience. “What is special about Abu Dhabi is that they are the only Formula 1 circuit in the world that have Formula 1 cars that you can test drive and with that, I feel I was very fortunate to get such an experience.”

He added that he not only enjoyed the Ferrari experience, but the hospitality of one of Tsogo Sun’s hotels, the Southern Sun Abu Dhabi.

“The day we got to Abu Dhabi, we took close to 45 minutes to settle in and we immediately went out to see what Abu Dhabi had to offer,” he quipped.

“I was fortunate to have had good company with this trip, as they were all great sports. Everyone wanted to try out everything that Abu Dhabi had to offer as some were not even afraid to let the child in them play – this is regarding the rain party we went to that was on the rooftop, as I watched them get wet and have fun. It was indeed a wonderful time.”

Joseph was accompanied by Man Cave presenter, Janez Vermeiren; Montecasino’s public relations officer, Sian Bailey; Pigspotter also known as Cliff Pinto; TV personality, Lee-Roy Wright and blogger, El Broide.

Joseph expressed that he thoroughly enjoyed the trip and explained that this opportunity can be experienced by Montecasino patrons if they spend R450 or more at any participating Montecasino outlet. Once you have spent R450 you will receive a scratch card with a guaranteed reward – plus an entry to stand a chance of winning an all-expenses-paid trip, valued at more than R50 000, to Southern Sun Abu Dhabi for seven nights, as well as a trip to Ferrari World.

The competition ends 31 October.
