FCF brings pointsmen and women to Fourways

Future City Fourways (FCF) together with Traffic FreeFlow and Metro police have heard the community’s great concern regarding traffic congestion in the Fourways area and they are happy to announce the introduction of the Fourways Traffic Pointsman project.

“FCF has heard your traffic concerns in the area and we are delighted to announce to the community, the Fourways Traffic Pointsman project in partnership with Traffic FreeFlow, which is sponsored by OUTsurance under the auspices of the Metro police. We are introducing a vastly expanded pointsman operation in the precinct, which will be effective from 1 February,” FCF’s board member, Jean Berdou explained.

Berdou added that the Traffic FreeFlow’s commitment to FCF’s vision of a cleaner, safer precinct was deeply appreciated. The project is set to take place in the Fourways and Douglasdale precincts to help assist with peak-hour traffic congestion.

“The pointsmen and women will be operating at 13 identified traffic congestion sites and an initial 16 specially trained personnel who recently completed their training on-the-job experience with veteran controllers in other areas, will be ready for deployment into our area,” Berdou said, who encouraged community members to note the intersections where the service shall be operating and the times.

Traffic FreeFlow is an independent company which owns and manages the Pointsman Project currently operating in the Gauteng municipalities of Johannesburg and Tshwane.

The following intersections have been confirmed, with three pending:

  • Lonehill Boulevard and Crestwood intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am and 4pm to 6pm
  • Crawford school intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am
  • Lonehill Boulevard/Concourse intersection from 6.30am to 8.30 and 4pm to 6pm
  • q Summit and Mnandi intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am and 4pm to 6pm
  • R114 and R552 intersection from 6.30am to 9.30am and 3.30pm to 6pm
  • Cottesmore and Bryanston intersection from 7pm to 9am and 3.30pm to 5.30pm
  • Highland and Grosvenor intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am
  • Douglas and Topaas intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am and 4pm to 6pm
  • Sangster and Troupant intersection from 6.30am to 8.30am and 3.30pm to 5.30pm
  • Douglas and Alexander intersection from 4pm to 6pm.

“FCF is truly delighted with the commitment of Traffic FreeFlow and principal sponsor, together with the Metro police, in helping fulfil the FCF’s vision of a cleaner and safer Fourways precinct for all,” Berdou said.

He concluded that they aim to alleviate traffic congestion by providing highly trained, dedicated and passionate pointsmen and women. “These men and women thrive on making your daily commute as stress-free as possible. If you see them on the road give them a thumbs-up or wave as you pass through the intersection.”
