White blazers awarded

BRYANSTON – Bryanston High School recently awarded seven pupils with white blazers.

Bryanston High School awarded seven achievers with white blazers.

The blazers are not easily attained and are awarded for the true passion that a youngster dedicates to either their academic achievements or participation in sporting or cultural aspects at the school.

The school is proud to award a white blazer to three girls who have shown an extra commitment in taking their academic achievements to new heights. The girls, Jenna Prinsloo, Tarsha Isaac and councillor president (head girl), Musa Ndaba maintained a minimum of six distinctions in Grade 11 last year.

These young women are not just academic whizz kids but each of them participates in various other aspects of school life at a very high level. Prinsloo represents the school as a member of the swimming and netball teams; Isaac is part of the cheerleading squad that was ranked third, nationally, in 2016; and Ndaba is one of the school’s top speakers and leads public speaking, debating and rhetoric teams and received the Cultural Award in Grade 11.

Candace Eslick received full colours for netball, athletics, academics and councillorship. Eslick not only achieved these full colours but also represented her school at a district level for netball and athletics and was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year in her Grade 11 year.

Tamara Chinganya completed her tennis coaching course as well as a hockey umpiring course and attained full colours in both of these fields in her Grade 11 year. She also achieved full colours for academics and councillorship.

Ian Edwards received his white blazer for receiving full colours for orienteering, squash, academics and councillorship.

The final blazer award went to the current councillor president (head boy), Gareth Edwards, for achieving four full colours in his Grade 11 year in orienteering, squash, academics and councillorship.

The school congratulates each of these Bryanstonian pupils on achieving their white blazers, but would also like to thank and congratulate their families and support networks, including the staff at the school.
