Know your nominated Top Cop for #TopCop Award
FOURWAYS – Fourways Review together with Auto & General and the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum are looking for the best cop, and here is another officer in the running for the win.
Putting the needs and safety of others before your own is always seen as a commendable act, and bearing testament to this is Douglasdale Police Station’s data capturer, Milgret Mogane.
Mogane is nominated in the best support category for the Top Cop Awards.
“It was great when I found out that I was nominated. It gives me great joy that my colleagues have this much faith in me to nominate me,” she said.
She added that it was an honour to be nominated as it showed that her colleagues recognised her work and supported it.
When asked what she would do with the money should she win, Mogane said she would use it towards renovating her house.
Speaking on behalf of Mogane, Douglasdale Police Station commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo said, “Milgret works as a data capturer for the Information Management Centre for the station.” She added that it was difficult to explain the responsibilities of the office but, at the end of the day, Mogane plays an important role in policing. “Her job is to ensure the data integrity of any report submitted to the police station, whether it is for further investigation by detectives or for Vispol to react to crimes reported,” Hugo said.
According to Hugo, data integrity is an important aspect of policing, as police officers and crimes are monitored and assessed on all information captured. “Milgret works extra hours to maintain and improve the station’s data integrity on an ongoing basis. Furthermore, she assists with the secretarial duties for the station commander. This includes taking minutes of meetings, which she does with no complaint,” Hugo said.
She added that not only is Mogane a joy to have around during the long hours it takes to get documents ready, but she is also friendly and brings a big smile to every face she works with.
