Community member and chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum, Jean Berdou, speaking in his personal capacity, shared his views on the appointment of President Cyril Ramaphosa as the country’s new president.

“I saw the appointment of the new president happening live on television. I am delighted that former President Jacob Zuma had to leave as now our nation can start a process of healing,” Berdou said.

He said he was excited to learn the successful appointment of President Cyril Ramaphosa and was optimistic that this would lead to great improvement in the business, international and local relationships, and confidence.

“The emphasis on fighting corruption and building our nation is inclusive of its people in as much as needed change in government.

“I look forward to a more prosperous and happy South Africa as a rainbow nation is established.”

This is after Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng announced Ramaphosa as the new president of the country on 15 February, following a letter of resignation by Zuma.
