Jaci Tibbit and Busi Roberts took time out of their busy schedules to bring Easter joy to the children of Diepsloot.

The two women, who met in 2016 when Tibbit was crowned Mrs Johannesburg and Roberts was crowned Mrs Pretoria-Tshwane, visited the Dorah’s Lil Angels playgroup in Diepsloot on 23 March with gifts of Easter eggs and bunny teddy bears.

“We’ve been coming here since we met 2016, and just carried on coming here after our reigns were over,” said Tibbit. “On special occasions, we come through and spoil the children!”

Roberts added, “I so enjoy putting smiles on their faces,” as she held and played with toddlers cared for at the centre.

Dorah’s Lil Angels is a playgroup that cares for children aged four years old and younger in the Diepsloot area. It is one of the Imfundo Educare facilities supported by the Rolemodels Foundation with the aim to support education in destitute communities. The school has a number of classes, named after colours where they do crafts and learn with their teachers.

“This week my class is working on a ‘family’ theme, we were doing a creative project when everyone arrived,” explained Kedibone Mothapo, teacher to the Green class.

The about 60 children present on the day were happy to spend time with the visitors, enjoying their chocolates and teddies. They also sang songs they had learned at school for the visitors to hear.

“A big thank you to Debbie Ferguson and Trefoil for their continuous and unwavering support. They sponsored the most adorable Duracell bunny [teddies] for the children for Easter, and the children just loved them and had such a big smile on their faces!” concluded Tibbit.
