TWITTER REACTS: #MduduziManana lays extortion charges against domestic worker

FOURWAYS – Mduduzi Manana has asked his lawyers to file a legal suit against his domestic worker, who previously claimed that he had tried to push her down the stairs.

After reports emerged on Monday, 7 May, that ANC MP and former deputy minister Mduduzi Manana was involved in more allegations of woman abuse, Manana released a statement last night about the incident.

Manana’s domestic worker, Catherine Wiro, claimed that Manana had tried to push her down the stairs in his home in Fourways on Sunday, 6 May. According to the Citizen, Manana reportedly denied the abuse of his middle-aged domestic worker and claimed that he’d been trying to prevent his employee from being raped in his home.

He further implied that she may have stolen from him. Wiro has since withdrawn the charges laid against Manana which has raised suspicion among some quarters.

In his statement he also said, ““I am aware that a case of assault has been withdrawn but I have instructed my lawyers to file a legal suit against the Wiro family for extortion as they demanded an amount of R100 000. Instead, I gave Ms Wiro money that was due to her for the two-week period that she worked at my home. Further details on this specific matter remain sub judice.”
