SA Guide-Dogs Association toasts women with tea
PAULSHOF– This is what took place at the recent ladies' tea at SA Guide-Dogs.
In celebration of Women’s Month, the SA Guide-Dogs Association hosted a special tea for ladies as guest speakers, Tammy Taylor Mrs SA Mrs Charity, Candice Robbertze and guide-dog owner and fiction writer, Leanne Hunt gave motivational speeches.
SA Guide-Dog’s Nadia Vermaak said, “Seeing this is the month that we celebrate women, we thought what better way than to host a ladies’ tea to say thank you to our valued supporters, media and sponsors – this was to give everybody a nice day off.”
Robbertze spoke to the women the importance of never giving up no matter how hard things might get. “As a woman, we have everything it takes to make it and we are made to withstand anything that comes our way.”

Hunt shared her life experiences of being visually impaired and how she got by every day with the challenges she came across as a visually impaired person. She also touched on the difference that it made having guide dogs in visually impaired people’s lives.
Vermaak explained that what people should expect from SA Guide-Dogs was their Gala Dinner which will take place at Montecasino on 13 October and year-end promotions as Christmas is around the corner. “We will also be participating in 947 Cycle Challenge as we are desperate for cyclists and people can sign up for this which will help raise our funds.”

Vermaak said they feel the economic pinch and some of their supporters battle to support them, but they were grateful to those who find it in their pockets and hearts to give. “We are grateful for whatever kind of donations we get from our supporters.”
