Police officers of the Douglasdale Police Station were recently rewarded for their hard work when they were promoted from constables to sergeants.
The morning’s ceremony started with a song and opening prayer. Spokesperson of Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Tshetlhane shared the opening address and said, “This is your time to celebrate what you have achieved. Relax and enjoy it.”
Station Commander, Brigadier Veeshani Arikum also addressed all those present just before everyone was called up to the front. “It’s a very special occasion today for everyone here,” she said. “My officers are very proud of the numbers we’ve got who are being promoted and we would like to congratulate each and every one of you.

“Be proud of your rank and wear it proudly. You are working towards your next promotion.”
Aside from fulfilling their duties, the new rankings come after 11 years’ service or more. As the many promoted constables were called up, the room filled with applause from everyone present. The new lapels were put on the shirts after saluting Arikum.
Chairperson of the Community Police Forum (CPF) for Douglasdale, Dez Pillay also extended his congratulations and thanks on behalf of the community.
“Thank you for keeping our community safe, and keep up the good work,” he said.
Everyone gathered together for photographs with each other and a big cake decorated with the words ‘Congratulations, Sergeants’ was shared and enjoyed.
