ICYMI: Bags of love shared with families in need
DAINFERN – Community members are invited to continue to donate to this drive to help feed those in need during lockdown.
Dainfern-based charity Bags of Love continues to share concern for vulnerable groups under lockdown.
Dainfern resident Susan Harwood of Bags of Love said that thanks to the assistance of Feed SA and Thirst, 300 families in Limpopo were able to benefit from donations of food parcels and blankets on 25 May.
Harwood thanked Romi Levenstein, Genevieve Solomans and Roxy Preibatsch of Feed SA for their support and generosity in the drive which saw truck-loads of goods transported to Limpopo.
On 27 May, Bags of Love and Dainfern residents collected food and clothing for 120 families. Three settlements in the Hartbeespoort area, Thabo Mbeki informal settlement and Witkoppen Clinic benefitted from the 180 food parcels collected in just one week.
“Thanks to Dainfern Valley, Dainfern Ridge and Dainfern Golf Estate, we received around 5 500 sandwiches, over 150 blankets, bedding, loads of brand new and gently worn winter clothing, toys, books, hot water bottles, fruit, soup mixes, food parcels and an incredible amount of food items, hand sanitisers, sanitary pads, face masks for children and adults and more,” said Harwood.
“Together we are making a huge difference to numerous communities of all races. To say we brought comfort and joy to these communities is an understatement,” added Harwood.
“Please help us keep sharing throughout winter and the pandemic.”
