Hirsch’s workshops are working to help entrepreneurs stay on a steady financial track

For the past month, Hirsch’s Entrepreneur Workshop had a number of influential people speaking to virtual attendees, with the first July workshop set to feature even more interesting individuals.

For the next two weeks, the workshop will host Hirsch’s executive director, Margaret Hirsch and business coach of Action Coach, Marlene Powell, who will helping entrepreneurs to keep track of their finances.

FinFind’s CEO and founder, Darlene Menzies alongside Powell spoke at the last workshop in June on the topic Cash Flow is King.

Menzies, addressing about 100 attendees on the Zoom platform, explained how cash flow in business was incredibly important. She mentioned that the only way one could keep on top of their cash flow was to constantly check the numbers.

“It’s all about having those numbers at your finger tips. Find an accountant that talks your language. Make sure you understand the system being used. If you’re not on top of your numbers, you can be peddling along happily and you won’t see the cliff coming. That could be the end of your business,” said Menzies.

Powell said simplifying a business by sticking to what you knew and your strengths, would result in one being able to manage one’s money correctly. “You need to make sure you have monthly management accounts in place. If you steer away from finance, you won’t know what’s happening in your business,” said Powell.

“You need to know how much is coming in and how much is going out. Find out how profitable are your clients. Are they helping you grow your business. If you get the basics right everything [will fall into place].”

Hirsch concluded the talk with useful advice. “Think positively and draw on that courage that’s inside you. Make a point of helping someone in need and see what a difference it makes in their lives  and in your own,” she said.
