Daily Bread pleads for assistance from community
DOUGLASDALE – The organisation asks anyone who can help, mostly with non-perishable food, to lend a helping hand.
The founder of the Daily Bread non-profit organisation, Charmaine McGinley has appealed to the business community and members of the public to lend a helping hand by donating non-perishable food parcels to the organisation.
The organisation serves as a place of safety for children in need and survivors of domestic abuse. It also offers care, clothes, life-skills education, counselling and meals to orphans and vulnerable children. Its drop-off store is located in the Leaping Frog Centre.
McGinley said Covid-19 lockdown has had devastating effects on the work of the organisation.”We are finding that donor fatigue has set in, but just as we think ‘where will the next drop off come in’ by the grace of God, someone will arrive bearing gifts.
“Since the lockdown started, we have learnt to ‘let go and let God’. For most of the children that we support, the meal that we provide is the only food they will receive that day. We are pleading with business community or anyone who can help us mostly with non-perishable food to lend a helping hand.”
McGinley added that the organisation have also housed many abused or homeless women and children in the past. “Our organisation’s main objective is to engage the community in activities that support and empower those who are less fortunate within the community,” McGinley concluded.
