President Ramaphosa to engage with members of SA National Editors’ Forum

The question-and-answer session will allow members of the media to ask Ramaphosa questions on matters of national importance.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to engage in a question-and-answer session on matters of national importance with members of the South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) this evening, 9 September.

In a tweet, the South African Government appealed to members of the public to watch the engagement from 6pm.

A statement issued by The Presidency also stated the engagement would be aired on television news channels as well as streamed on various online platforms.

The statement issued by The Presidency further reads, “This engagement acknowledges the important role public media plays in educating and assuring the nation and holding public institutions to account.”

Caxton Local Media will be represented on the panel and is asking its community members to share questions they would like to ask President Ramaphosa by emailing Daniella Graham on daniellap@caxton.co.za.

This is the second virtual engagement Ramaphosa will have with members of the media as represented in Sanef. The first engagement took place at the end of May, just before Sanef released its Covid-19 Impact on Journalism interim report on 1 June.

During the discussion, Sanef explained the challenges confronted by the media industry during the coronavirus pandemic. Members of Sanef and editors from various media houses then asked Ramaphosa some questions.
