Douglasdale police raise awareness
DOUGLASDALE – Community members received more information and awareness regarding gender-based crimes and human trafficking.
Douglasdale sector managers and corporate communications alongside the Department of Community Safety headed to Vukuzenzele Centre in Pipeline informal settlement on 17 September.
The purpose of their presence in the area was for a joint crime-awareness campaign in which they covered crimes, including gender-based violence, domestic violence and human trafficking.
Spokesperson for Douglasdale Police Station Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said the community received the pamphlet distribution very well, with about 130 handed out. “The community safety coordinator, as well as the police, addressed those who attended on the above-mentioned issues.
“It was an interactive awareness session. Members who attended were given a chance to ask questions.”
The awareness campaign was both for men and women. The station plans to have another one soon to educate the community and general public.
