Girls at Diepsloot school given bulk sanitary pads
DIEPSLOOT – Celebration Church alongside the Victor Foundation came together to assist more than 60 schoolgirls with sanitary pad donations.
Organisations and companies recently came together to distribute sanitary pads to a target of 67 girls at Diepsloot Combined School.
The Victor Foundation partnered with the My Sister’s Keeper programme that is run by Celebration Church Johannesburg. The latter works with vulnerable girls to give the assistance through donations, life skills and coaching.
The foundation has a history of donating sanitary pads to different schools, and it was not the first time coming to a Diepsloot school.
The hampers distributed to the primary and high school girls contained a four months’ supply of sanitary pads, toilet paper, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, face towel, lip balm, hand sanitisers, soap, hand wash and a loaf of bread.
Founder of the Victor Foundation, Rabison Shumba addressed the learners and spoke on how the distribution had the assistance of many other companies and individuals.
“We cannot do this on our own. We certainly require the efforts of others to come along to help us touch communities.
“Organisations such as Vumilia Africa Group, Kaya FM, Geotheta, Kingdom Blue Funeral, Hybrid Innovative Solutions, Glamping Adventures, Velocity Wellness, The Global Priority Group, Cartridge Gallery SA and Instant Transfer Express came along with donations in cash and in kind,” he said.
The girls at the school were extremely grateful for the donations, and said it ‘makes our teenage years easier’.
“We urge you girls to make schooling your focus so that we can see you as leaders not only in the community but globally,” concluded Shumba.
